JACKY TAR: Splät!!

If Celtic-influenced rock music is your bag, then you probably already know about Jacky Tar. This Wellington sextet formed in 1996, and immediately made an impact with their exciting live shows and unique sound and instrumentation. 'Splät!!' includes 10 original tunes, with the group's trademark sound and conglomeration of styles. It's not often you will ever hear Cook Island log drums and highland pipes side-by-side on a track, but Jacky Tar seem to get away with it superbly. This is music that erases musical borders and merges genres, simultaneously lifting your spirit and making you think. The group members (Andy Kerr, Grant Shearer, Nick Swan, Manu Scott, Mo and Maurice Newport) share the sonic spotlight with several guests, the result being a cohesive, musically adventurous effort.
