Various: Sun Valley Sound

By Reuben Keeling
Set up in 1998 as Kog Transmission’s house label, Reliable Recordings has spent the past five years showcasing our emerging house artists. And this latest compilation is proof of just how talented those artists really are. The 10 tracks here are smooth and percussion-heavy, with a low-key style to please every dance floor junkie. Just check out the quirky but infectious Don’t Leave Me, a collaboration between California-based DJ Joshua and local legends Mark Burgess and Jamie Robertson, or the Reactormusic remix of Two Right Wrongans, with shades of Mr Scruff-style cutesy funk. The Kiwi house scene has really come of age, and with old heads such as Joost Langeveld (from Subware) and Roger Perry (from Reactormusic) behind the wheel you can’t go wrong.
