Various: The Strip Soundtrack

By Shaun Chait
The Strip soundtrack, like the show it supports, is cutting edge, slightly leftfield, quality local art that celebrates the talents of our creative industries. The 18 tracks featured encompass all the moods TV and movie people look for in music to accompany scenes - being quirky, fun, moving, emotive, and memorable. Huge credit goes to those responsible for compiling these tracks. They have ignored being sound specific to cover the varied genres of Aotearoa. And the mix of bigger, popular favourites (Che Fu, the feelers, Goodshirt, Greg Johnson), with cream of the crop up 'n comers (Phoenix Foundation, Goldenhorse, Stylus 77, Cloudboy) is spot on, as are the chosen track selections. Throw in some of the most promising acts around and you are left with the strongest NZ soundtrack album ever put together. Heartfelt, real NZ music - absolutely essential. Out on Loop Recordings.
