Circle of Friends: A Pace Of Grace

'Circle of Friends' is exactly what they appear to be, from the virtuoso pianist Charmaine Ford to the old hands of Graham Wardrop and Suzanne Lynch, 10 musicians in all give life to this interesting recording. Interesting, because the CD is a companion album to a book of the same name, published by Penguin and endorsed by none other than the Dalai Lama. The track titles give the game away too: Teach Me in this Moment, Letting Go, Practice the Presence. It's music with a mission, the songs are strong and the musicianship faultless. It requires a lot of listening to take it all in; it's quite preachy and evangelistic and sometimes the lyrics are a bit much, but the sounds are always sweet.
