Amber Claire: Love and Such

By Mahinarangi Tocker
Amber Claire, the latest Sony NZ-backed female artist, has a voice of such beauty that I'm hypnotised into enjoying some of the covers on her debut recording that I'd otherwise not listen twice too. Her voice is capable of showing many emotions, however she seems at times tentative. There is a huge voice in Amber Claire, I'm sure of it. The tracks which I am enjoying the most, are Souvenir, (the singer's original), and the Khan song, What You Do With What You've Got, which I first heard being sung by Shona Laing on a television documentary about the Paraplegic Olympics several years ago. Amber Claire is very amiably supported by some of New Zealand's leading recording musicians, including Ben King and Martin Winch. 'Love And Such' is described by some as adult contemporary music. I should think though, that Amber Claire would appeal to many age groups. She's a great singer.
