Lindon Puffin and the Bleeding Hearts: Stuff Like That
By Tony Parker
Formerly of Christchurch glam pop band the Puffins, in his own words Lindon Puffin has grown up, and in doing so has evolved into a singer/songwriter with and eye for heartfelt lyrics and catchy choruses. Backed by the Bleeding Hearts the sound is primarily acoustic pop/rock with plenty of guitar jangle, chugging rhythms and the odd spot of harmonica. The glam slam of Rock No More shows Puffin's musical past has yet to be fully erased. Written in the solitude of a Banks Peninsula cottage the songs adopt global themes of love, change and hope, yet lines like "stumbling blind towards the bach in easing rain again" place things firmly within the local geography. By recording the musicians all together in the same room or in some cases a storage shed, Puffin has created a cohesive and immediate collection of songs that show he is evolving into an accomplished singer/songwriter.
