Trillion: At A Lucid End
By Shaun Chait
Jody Lloyd might be best known for his work in Dark Tower, but in his Trillion persona (out on his own She'll Be Right Records) he has created his best and most mature and sophisticated work to date. Brimming with the full array of rap and beat related genres, 'At A Lucid End' is a personal social commentary on the world complete with all its ills, and is remarkably at the same time chilled out, hip and laden with Summer anthems. Although there is an eclectic line-up of guests, Trillion is very much one man's record, and Lloyd has done well to come up with quite a unique Kiwi album. Not as obviously indulgent in New Zealand as his previous works, 'At A Lucid End' is also no carbon copy of overseas trends, coming across as a fresh, engaging and varied local work. Intelligent, thoughtful lyrics, top notch production, and too many highlights to name. Impressive
