Izzy Gardner, Isabella Miller Bell, Miller Bell, Izzy Miller Bell and Ma Bell... all name variations for one of NZ's most musical Scottish imports. Izzy has been a professional folk and blues singer since 1982 and with 'Blues Angel' proves to be a talented songwriter as well, having penned one third of the 15 tunes. Other songwriters include Jimmy Page & Robert Plant (The Rain Song), Eddie Green, Blind Boy Fuller and Skip James among others. Izzy Miller Bell has been a part of the Christchurch scene for some years now, even having studied at Christchurch Jazz School in the mid '90s (where I first met her). 'Blues Angel' features a who's who of top Canterbury players; Jon Hooker, Bob Heinz, Tom Rainey, Ian Edwards and James Wilkinson for a start. This is an album to relax to... to enjoy a glass of wine with ... to just lose yourself in!
