Various: Underground Resistance

By Mikhal Norris
A tasty sampler of 24 punk and ska tracks featuring old favourites and fresh talent from all over the country. It all kicks off with Pugface's Summertime, and then continues to smack you in the face with a 65 minute high speed set of some of our most infectious and notorious ska and punk rock. Underground Resistance features infamous names such as The Managers and The WBC who have managed to break into commercial radio with their ska magic. Then there is some brilliant, fast paced fury by the likes of The Bleeders, Missing Teeth and This Night Creeps. If that isn't your type of thing then skank away to ska tracks by the likes of Hilt, The Offbeats and Mailbox Skipole. And don't forget standouts for most intelligent lyrics: which include Fuck the Planet by We Dunno and Roofdog's Eat Shit. Compiled by Joel Pinkham and Matt Barnes (he's the guy that started the highly successful punkas.com back in 2000!), 'Underground Resistance' may not demonstrate the highest quality recordings, and there may also be a few fake English accents but who could resist? Out now through Stakeout Records and Global Routes Music.
