Age Pryor: City Chorus

By Mahinarangi Tocker
Re-named 'Constant Rotate' in my house. I love it! Book-ended by my favourites, Curious Boy and Leave It All Behind, this original collection will walk and drive you to personal adventures in sound-rhythms of groove, funk, rock and reggae. An excellent assortment of instrumentation, songs and arrangements led by Age Pryor - vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass, harmonica, percussion, with Tessa Rain - vocals, Kerry Wood - violin, Nigel Collins - cello, to name just a few of the excellent musicians involved - and, best of all, my favourite New Zealand drummer, Chris O'Connor. This is a fine clothing of sounds to wear by night and day, no matter your emotional weather, nor the genre you choose usually to stay with. Pryor and Rain sing with subtle intensity. Not just any singer can pull these songs off with security and truthful beauty. 'City Chorus', is a must find. Go look for it now. Out on Loop or check: www.agepryor.co.nz
