EDDIE NUMBERS: Another Day In Paradise

A dramatic piano solo introduces this debut album from this impressive hip hop act that derives its name from MC Edgar Mahon, but is determinedly a band. Alongside Mahon, Eddie Numbers is made up of drummer, producer and musical director Regal Norris and DJ Baz, plus Ben Healey on bass and guitar. Vocalist Tyla Pere shows plenty of ability and provides a good foil to Mahon, plus there’s dressing from guest musicians including Alan Brown and Marika Hodgeson. Recorded here by the band, the album was somehow mixed and mastered by Mike Nielsen, who has credits with Jamiroquai and KRS One in Istanbul. Hip hop purists may find issue, but the rhythmic instrumentation makes this album a very rewarding listen.
