The Good Fun : Sharing EP
By Anna Schlotjes
Starting off by blasting the good time anthem Karaoke, The Good Fun drag us kicking and screaming (in a good way) into a party soundtrack that positively radiates lightheartedness. Listening to their debut EP is like slipping into a dream filled with the pleasant memories of youth. The sound is young, exciting and current, and could put the most gloomy person in the mood to party all night long, the sound track from your ‘best summer ever’. It incorporates bouncy guitar riffs, enthusiastic vocals and catchy bass lines with a general jauntiness that makes one want to leap up and throw their limbs around to the beat. Their sound is cohesive and polished, Leroy Clampitt’s vocal style is distinctive and the band’s lyrics, quirky and unusual, add to the unique personality of the band, who were 2010’s Rockquest winners. They are a band simply happy to be making music, and this translates in their songs.
