The Wellington Heads: Spin the Same

By Liz Barry
Neil Warboys, Geoff Keith and Bill Wood are an integral part of Wellington's live music scene and as The Wellington Heads, their songs encompass the small dramas of life, from relationships and quirky observations to political comment. 'Spin the Same' was recorded live on location, using vintage instruments, amps, recording equipment and tape and features a variety of well known local brass players and drummers. The Heads have always been renowned for their rich blend of swing, blues and rock n roll tracks, but since 2001's 'Songs from the Living Room', they've moved in a more jazzy direction, currently describing their sound as "cool jazz". In June 'Spin the Same' was launched in fine style with a dynamic live performance at Blondini's Bar at the Embassy Theatre. For Capital dwellers, this album is a must-have and for homesick Wellingtonians living elsewhere, 'Spin the Same' will have you wanting to come home to the most beautiful city in New Zealand.
