The Nana Squad / R69: Japanglish
By Reuben Harper
Here we have two young rock bands from Palmy on one CD, hormones raging hard and ready to explode! With five songs per band on a 20 minute recording, it's short. Nana Squad are first up with stunning punk rock riffs and an abundance of sexual humour. If such lyrics amuse you, you'll love the jibes about Star Wars characters on Attack of the Hormones! They have a plentiful supply of teenage angst to burn and use it to great effect. Their melody lines are catchy and poppy, as they'd have to be to draw you into songs with titles like For the Love of a Good Cat... R69 have a tougher sound that is similar to ska band Rancid at times. The high-speed playing on this hormone-fuelled CD draws a sweat just listening to it! Brief and straight to the point. Released on Stuntcock Records.
