The self-proclaimed king of NZ hip hop, secures his crown with the
release of this, his second album. Following his 2007 debut ‘The
Truth’, and record breaking success with his Smashproof mates in ’09,
Young Sid has managed to step it up another notch. The album is
thematically heavy, dealing with everything from police profiling,
media scrutiny, death, youth, and the harsh realities of life in South
Auckland. Young Sid tells his stories with the conviction and honesty
of an eyewitness account and the creative flair of a seasoned MC.
‘What Doesn’t Kill Me’ is a record of real international calibre,
featuring beats from NYC-based producer Emilie (Ice Cube, Kid Cudi)
and up and coming Australian duo Twice As Nice. Standout tracks
include the emotionally wrought single Never Waste A Day, the hooky
collaboration with Stan Walker Stuck In A Box, and Emilie -produced
The Heist. The limited edition version also comes with a DVD featuring
his back-catalogue of music videos. Young Sid is at the top of his
game, baring all, in his most mature and honest offering yet.
