COAST: Coast EP

Coast is a roots/reggae three-piece, originally from the East Coast, now based in Auckland, who’ve just released this debut EP through the LOOP label. Much has been made of these guys being a great musical unit, and they consider themselves honorary brothers as well as band mates. Really, it’s a case of studying the label’s earliest successes – The Black Seeds and TrinityRoots – and aiming for the dead centre. There are elements of the harder groove of Kora too but with just six tracks, meandering, wafting, it’s hard to get a strong sense of the band personality. It all means that if you are a fan of any of these bands you are quite possibly going to love this – but there’s nothing really new being added to the canon. Related Information
