EVERMORE: Evermore
By John Paul Carroll
Before coming to terms with the motivation behind this Frankenstein’s monster, it seemed like an album-between-albums, some filler for the drooling masses while the former Fielding lads enjoy fame and can’t find the time between parties and world tours to write a full album’s worth. It turns out, the truth is another story and to sweeten the deal for avid fans there are three new tracks here. While effectively being a finely honed PR product with which to introduce Kiwi music’s golden boys to the northern hemisphere, this album also serves as evidence of the ridiculously polished and produced sound that Evermore have achieved, standing well above many other Kiwi bands in operation at the moment. While this can certainly be recommended, unless a hardcore Evermore fan, you’ll probably want to wait for something really fresh.
