GREG JOHNSON: Greatest Hits.
By Ben Mortensen
Listening to this album was a real trip down memory lane. Songs youíve grown up listening to, that unbeknownst have become embedded in your psyche and will have you singing and humming along with a wry smile. Songs that you wouldnít necessarily know you knew, but turns out you do. Kind of like when you walk into a strange room only to smell a pleasant and familiar smell. Itís one of those albums. Greg Johnson is one of those artists. He has a simple and honest approach to his music and songwriting style, that is very easy on the ears and leaves you feeling comfortable and at ease, ensconced in familiarity. The album features 17 re-mastered favourites from his long and successful career, plus a bonus disc with some rare B-sides. Not surprisingly, 1993 hit Isabelle was my favourite and probably the most memorable song on the album, but I also really enjoyed 2006ís Horses as well as Now The Sun Is Out. A great way to kickstart your Greg Johnson collection, or one for the fans.
