INCREDIBLY HOT SEX WITH HIDEOUS PEOPLE: My Life With Madonna
By Simon Sweetman
Incredibly Hot Sex With Hideous People is a ‘zine created by Bryce Galloway. He has created and performed under his own name as well as being one of the driving forces behind The Wendyhouse. Here he applies his talents to a street ‘zine, this issue is called “Meeting Famousness” and dedicates itself to tales of mere mortals bumping in to celebrities. Stephen Clover tells the story of being run over by ex-NZ cricketer, Ewan Chatfield. There are stories of seeing Nick Cave, Anika Moa, Stephen Malkmus – and with it comes the CD, ‘My Life With Madonna’; a lo-fi tribute album featuring covers, reinterpretations, remixes and deconstructions of songs made famous by The Material Girl. Mr Pudding (one of Galloway’s aliases) offers a version of Holiday; he’s back as DJ $1 Record for the CD’s title track. Rubber Banana, The Doll, Grubby Bunny and Chris Palmer all contribute – mixing folk noodlings with low-key electro stylings; all very bedsit and cheap. And wonderful.
