These Four Walls: Down Falls an Empire

By Lisa Rapley
Having already had four singles gaining airtime These Four Walls are taking it to the next level with the release of their debut album. An alternative band of the punk-rock bordering on emo variety, this four-piece are not everyone’s cup-of-tea. With themes of life and death, their lyrics paint pictures that make the listener ponder in realisation. The most current single Sweet December has vocals by lead singer Steve Gibb that are reminiscent of Savage Garden’s Darren Hayes – but set against a rock background which makes for an interesting listen. The most striking song on the album, To The Loved & The Lost, builds up slowly with an eeriness that makes one to listen to it. The anticipated intense crash of guitars and drums, only comes to half of what one expects. Recorded at Auckland’s Studio 203 the album was produced by Chris Van de Geer and engineer Andrew Buckton
