NONE LEFT STANDING: Time Is Now
By Alistar Wickens
Christchurch four-piece None Left Standing dish up a healthy blend of old-school pop punk, funk and metal on this self-funded debut. While their sound is vaguely reminiscent of ’90s punksters Somerset, Balance and Brubeck, they bring a freshness to the genre that makes the album sound current. The songs are catchy and will appeal to anyone vaguely interested in the punk scene, and the energy the band bring to their craft really shows through in the recording. The only let down was the song She’s Old which seemed out of place with the seriousness of the other tracks and was, in my opinion, an unnecessary addition to an otherwise strong first album. These guys seem to get around the country a bit and have played alongside some of NZ’s big names in the punk/rock scene. If you get the chance, pick up a copy of the album, get acquainted with the songs and get out and see them in their element.
