Trigger Theory: Better Days

By Alistar Wickens
The Trigger Theory wear their faith on their sleeves, with a religious sort of theme seeming to run through many, if not all, of the songs on this short album (which is really an EP at 6 songs plus a video). Which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, and certainly hasn’t put me off a band before, but I found this album difficult to really get into. It’s not that they’re bad musicians but this just didn’t come across as a cohesive album (or EP); the genre and style changed between songs, which made it seem more like a compilation of random tracks than an album put together with any direction in mind. The band seems to have a loyal following at their live shows and have played to some big crowds, so I assume that their music translates well to a live setting. Unfortunately, their studio effort just didn't work so well for me.
