Subware: Subware
By Reuben Keeling
Since bursting on the scene in 1998, Subware have worked hard to earn themselves a reputation for making great music and hosting entertaining live shows. Made up of bFM DJ Jason 'Rockpig' Hall and musician/producer Joost Langeveld, Subware's debut self-titled offering combines the best of their tastes and talents. Effortlessly funky and smooth, the album is sometimes trippy, sometimes bluesy, but always good. Guest vocalists such as the prolific Sandy Mill and Jessica Meffin add their flavour to the mix on occasion, but for the most part this album is a 10 track experience in instrumental mastery. The names behind Subware are responsible for making NZ's dance scene what it is today, and this album is another stepping stone in its evolution. Sharp as production from Chris Chetland at Kog Transmissions is the icing on the cake, and helps make this Subware album a thoroughly enjoyable listen. Out through Reliable Recordings.
