Autozamm: Drama Queen

‘Drama Queen’ is the second from Autozamm and is an album chock full of snappy pop/rock tunes with an emphasis on memorable melodies and razor sharp riffs, all put together with a dose of good humour and enthusiasm. Expanded to a five-piece the band produces a full, harder-edged sound than previously and this works to their advantage. Radio friendly and polished this album is full of big choruses and swings easily from the piano-based pop of Closer to Home through to the riff heavy title track. It’s not hard to see songs such as Disco and Baby Blue filling dance floors with ease. Pop/rock with an edge that doesn’t take itself too seriously makes it easy to see the appeal of Autozamm, a band that seems to bring something fresh and fun back into mainstream Kiwi rock.
