Space Mouse: To Be Successful and Make Friends You Need to Have a Good Job and Lots of Money
By Jacob Conner
A collection of amateur sound collage and song fragments, TBSAMFYNTHAGJALOM is the brainchild of Michael Christian who enlists the musical support of Nathan Spittle. The recording utilises 'mouse sound', which is to say it comes over tinny and homemade. "I make no apologies", Michael insists. The intro ushers in a chiming music box which is slowly detuned to indicate the descent into one man's muse that follows. A few homely guitar strum pieces and a line in infantile storytelling are still preferable to the infuriating repeated cock crow sample of 1014. Other uncredited samples feature Marilyn Monroe, JFK and Bill Clinton. The last track sounds like a game of pinball. This is okay for a first outing from the bedroom, but to paraphrase Spinal Tap's manager it would have a 'selective appeal' and at $15 is a bit steep for what is essentially 20 minutes of flotsam and jetsam.
