WWIV: Rok In Rol Point Of View
By Shaun Chait
It seems everyone’s doing rock ’n’ roll these days (wait until you hear the new Backstreet Boys’ sound!), but WWIV have something new to offer, while remembering that the key ingredient in music such as this is that it’s supposed to be fun. The biggest concern for me is in the choice of artwork and image they have chosen with which to sell this CD, which has the appearance of dull hard rock/heavy metal or worse, and doesn’t do the music justice at all. This is good, raw R ‘n’ R, both in the sound and recording and is surprisingly refreshing, which is of tremendous credit to the band. And at 10 tracks in half an hour you’re not going to be twiddling your thumbs. Too hard to pick out best tracks - there wasn’t much I didn’t like. Get past the cover and have yourself a listen.
